Dear Dean Hazeltine,

Happy Birthday! I'm glad to have this chance to thank you for what a wonderful person, friend, mentor and teacher you have been not only to me, but also to everyone else you have touched, throughout the years. You are truly one of a kind. You could never imagine how often your name comes up in conversation with fellow Brown alumni, almost of all of whom seem to have a story and warm memory to tell about how you touched and helped them.

I'll never forget one time in EN 90 during the very lengthy final exam in Sayles Hall when a Domino's delivery man came in with a pizza, and instead of getting mad, you laughed and declared, "Who ordered this pizza? What a great idea! Geez, I should have thought of that and ordered pizza for everyone." And then you proceeded to hand out candies and, as I recollect, sodas to anyone who was thirsty.

One saying in life is that good guys always finish last, but you are a living example that this is not true as you are one of the best and in my book and that of every other Brown person I have ever spoken to that knows you, you are unequivocally first in our minds. Wishing you all the best!

Warm regards,
Ken
